A city in China had to open a special lane for people who have their head buried in their smartphone, but car maker VW has a more high-tech solution to this 21st century problem. Introducing Bump Alert – the smartphone app that automatically flashes a warning when you are about to run into something.

Okay, okay, Bump Alert is not an actual feature… of your phone. But it is a new feature called City Emergency Brake on the new VW up!, Volkswagen’s city car.
